5 Months Old!

I can't believe Cora is growing up so fast!  Today she rolled over twice and we celebrated her birthday with a trip to the park.  I think I may have been into it more than her.  The internet says I should be introducing her to baby swings.  She had naps in mind.

We started the morning with a bottle and the obligatory couch pose.

Then we discussed the plan for the day.

Then playtime while I got ready.  She mostly just puts these toys in her mouth now.

Then we hit the swings!

 Which led to this...

But I'm glad we saw this on the way out...

I love Los Angeles...inspiration around every corner.

Happy 5 Months Birthday Baby Cora!  I hope you dream big!!!

My old favorite hangout

Is still a very fun place.

I did it!  One day shy of 5 months after baby and I summoned the courage to throw on a swimsuit and indulge in my favorite late night activity.  The cool night Los Angeles air mixed with the warm bubbles of a jacuzzi.

Since having Cora I have felt a mix of emotions on just being Christy, like somehow, indulging in things I enjoyed before her will make me less there for her.  I'm new at this mom thing so it's a huge learning process for me.  But on nights like tonight, when I stretch back and remember the things I love before she came into my life, I realize, I owe it to myself and to her to continue to enjoy life.  Up next...enrolling in an acting class.  I will head back to the city to begin work on my career again while still shaking cocktails in Malibu.  Life is good.  Life is very good.

Mommy and Me Date: Outside the Box

Today Cora and I went to Outside the Box in Woodland Hills.  We had so much fun meeting other mommies and babies!  I took a photo of us as they started the bubble process but it came out weird.  I'm still getting the hang of capturing moments on the fly!  I'm also very aware, after watching this video, that mommyhood has led me to neglect my eyebrows and they have taken over my face!

Cora is enthralled with the bubbles.  My wand didn't make nearly as much as their machine!

10 minutes after class.  This lasted an hour.  Clearly learning is exhausting.

Margaritas Anyone?

So there is a meme going around facebook that basically describes my job:

I have been working as a bartender on the Malibu Pier.  So yeah, basically I work in paradise.

Pier view during the day.

Pier view at sunset.

Since I am in Malibu, random celebrities sit at my bar.  This blog is inspired by Cindy Crawford.

The entire restaurant was aflutter because Barbara Streisand had reserved a large table on the patio.  Lucky me, my bar is directly off the patio so I finally get to meet my older doppelganger.  Seriously, all my adult life I have been told I look like her, or Sarah Jessica Parker or Claire Forlani, and oddly enough none of these people look alike, but I also get Madonna on a good day so I think it just depends on how much my clientele has been drinking, but it is always these 4, oh and Michael J Fox's wife, but on to the story.

The party swoops in and I go from lounging on my bar gazing at the sea to insanely busy shaking cocktails, pouring wine and mixing virgin drinks for the Malibu underagers.  I am deep in my drink making when all of the sudden I hear my server Paul call for a vodka martini, I ask if he wants it dirty and I hear, yeah, you want it dirty Paul?  I look up and it's Cindy Crawford making a joke.  Paul blushes and then he hands me a bottle of the tequila she brought and said this is for Cindy.

He handed me a bottle of Casamigos Tequila and I begin pouring it for the party.  I also made some delicious margaritas with it.  Casamigos was founded by George Clooney and Randy Gerber and it goes down pretty smooth.  We carry it at our restaurant, and of course I tried it.  I mean, it's important that I know my product!

Casamigos Tequila

Casamigos Margaritas on the rocks

Here's my recipe I have been using for margaritas since the Lexington Social House days as taught to me by Kyle Ackley:

1.5 - 2 oz Tequila
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz agave simple syrup

I do not salt the rims because if you have a good tequila, like Casamigos for example, you don't need it anyways.  The trick is to use fresh lime juice and an agave nectar simple and stay away from triple sec and sweet and sour.  I get a perfectly measured wonderful tasting margarita, every single time.  Try it out and let me know how you like it!

Oh, and to wrap it up, I didn't get to meet Barbara, she stood a few feet away from my bar but we didn't exchange words, but she's adorable, I mean it's Babs, come on!  When a legend like that stands at my bar, I lose all my cool banter and pretty much just try to stay busy so I can avoid contact until she goes away.
